2-day Wax carving and Lost Wax Casting Workshop February 28th and March 1st
Join me at my studio on Saturday February 28th and Sunday March 1st for a two day intensive all about the ancient technique of lost wax casting. I will walk you through the whole process, introduce you to all of the tools, and teach you the wax working and metalsmithing techniques for you to create two sterling silver pieces. This is a small class with only 4 students so you’ll get plenty of hands on assistance and guidance.
Day 1 10am-5pm (with 1 hour lunch break)
Learn all about the lost wax casting process
Tool tour
Learn wax carving and manipulation techniques
Free carving time to create your very own pieces ( each student will make one ring and a second piece of either another ring, pendant, or small object. Total for both must be under 15g of silver)
Sprue up waxes and add to tree
Show everyone how to calculate metal weight
Invest waxes for casting
Day 2 10-2pm
Live casting
Removing castings from tree
Cleaning casting and removing sprues
Sanding and polishing your pieces to the perfect finish
